June 5th 2018. A day that I will never forget and a day that will stick with me forever. The day that Kate Spade passed.
The news hit me like a ton of bricks. As it did for many others who loved and adored her.
Kate Spade New York has always been one of THOSE brands, for me. It has always been a brand that stood out to me for many reasons. It's a blend of childhood imagination meets adulthood sophistication. And if that doesn't describe the ideal of a brand, I'm not sure what will. Their stores? Nothing else compares to them! It's like walking into the best walk-in closet, ever. Plus, a design house created by a woman? I mean, it just doesn't get better.
Her death was such a surprise, as were the details that followed. Depression effects many, and doesn't discriminate. Depression is something that I have dealt with almost my entire life. Indirectly or directly, we all have. It is something that does exist and something we all need to be conscious of.
From June 20th through June 29th , the Kate Spade New York Foundation will match public donations made to the Crisis Text Line up to the amount of $100,000. To make your donation, please go to: www.crisistextline.org/katespadeny.
