Monthly Favorites & a Chatty Recap | April 2019

Holy smokes! It's May! Sunshine is here, the buds are starting and green grass is sprouting! We finally made it! This month's post I am going to try something a little different. Instead of doing a recap of all my favorites over the past month, it's also going to be a little life recap! We'll see how it goes!

Style.
With the new Spring months ahead, there are quite a few new things that I am absolutely loving. For one, the 90s are back in a big way. Which makes my little kid heart happy. Being born in the early 90s, I didn't get to take advantage of a lot of the styles that were once incredibly popular. So them coming back around (as fashion always does), is pretty exciting! I'm all about those neon shades that are popping up everywhere, specifically in accessories. My new beloved Fila sneakers also come in this shade from DollsKill. So fun! Just debating whether I need them or not. Do they spark joy? Heck yes they do! But with the capsule wardrobe going strong so far, I don't need to add them to my shoe wardrobe. I always find that if I love an item, and get it in another color, I only wear one of them and never the other. Is that just me?
Going along with my newfound love of Sporty Spice is athletic socks. I have starting seeing these pop up everywhere and styled in some really fun ways. Urban Outfitter's has this incredible exclusive collaboration between Disney and Fila, featuring a set of super cool socks inspired by villains. Unfortunately they are now sold out, however I am 100% keeping my eye out for them! These bad boys are just as cool and on my watch list!
To contrast with channeling my inner Sporty Spice, I am on a total jewelry kick. I've always been a big fan of layering loads of rings, but overall, I kept it less and a little more simple. Finding those key pieces I love to wear everyday and keeping it there. Well, not anymore! I have discovered my love of layering lots of different varieties and styles of jewelry and am having a lot of fun with it! Specifically small hoop earrings. I got this multi set from Walmart, and they are so fun! I remember having something similar when I was younger, and I am having so much fun with switching it up and playing with the different sizes day to day. The hoops definitely hasn't replaced my love of rings, I have added two more to my collection. One is a fun cocktail ring, and the other is a customized piece that I'm still waiting on. So excited!

Decor.
Home decor and decorating this something that I have always really been into. I actually don't really remember a time where I didn't play around with my surroundings. I tend to get bored easily, so I always feel the need to switch things around and rearrange, especially if I feel the urge to go out and shop. It's an incredibly handy trick! Well, now that the warmer weather is coming, so are the house projects. And let me tell you, I am excited. We have already started a few small little ones, and it has given me the itch to just get going on all of them. Once I have the visual in my head, and the Pinterest board to go with it, I am ready. Although with work schedules and weather as big factors, it isn't immediate. However when the project is done, it is all the more exciting! Get ready for room reveals once they are completed!
Entertainment.
Alright. We've got quite a few in this category. As far as shows I have been binge watching Riverdale. I mean, who hasn't been? The make-up and wardrobe for that show is truly incredible, plus the plot? Amazing. My guilty pleasure for TV is 100% reality shows. Specifically Bravo or E! shows. They are just better than any other ones in my humble opinion. My current favorites? Keeping Up With the Kardashians (naturally) and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. They are always entertaining and are a great escape to the normal day to day life. This season of Beverly Hills is also amazing! If you haven't watched it, CATCH UP! Music wise I am non-stop listening to The Dirt soundtrack from Motley Crue. Specifically The Dirt with Machine Gun Kelly. And their cover of Madonna's Like A Virgin? Sounds like an odd combination, but so worth the listen. As far as reading goes, my guilty pleasure that I don't tell many people... Except now the whole internet... is Nora Roberts books, specifically her trilogies. I'm currently reading the Sign of Seven series and it is so good! Highly recommend. It just got reprinted with fancy new covers, however you can score the original copies on Amazon!

Health.
Health is a rather tricky topic for me. I definitely go through phases of ups and downs, as I've talked about in this post from September. For the past seven years I have been on a medication that I would much rather not be on. I am happy to report that last year I was able to get on the lowest dose for that medication, and have made even more progress! A year and a half ago I started seeing a chiropractor that also does dry needling and saw a major improvement. Then a few months ago I continued my health journey going to a wellness clinic. It was recommended to me that I try a Keto diet. Until recently, I didn't really know too much about what that meant or why someone would do it. I am not looking to lose weight, so how does it benefit me? Well, apparently, a lot! And it makes a ton of sense. Keto cuts out carbs which turn themselves into sugar, which leads to inflammation. And any extra inflammation is just not good for my body. Since switching to a Keto lifestyle, I have noticed a big improvement in my back pain as well as my stomach. Major improvement, and incredibly exciting!
Hair.
For the past 8 years, I have had a pixie. And let me tell you, I love my short hair. I feel most myself with a faux hawk and clippered sides. It feels bold and empowering and I love that. However, I also always loved my bob. Over the past few months I have felt like I needed a little bit of a change, and a change I am working towards! I'm in the process of growing my hair out to a shorter bob with Bettie bangs. The bangs are here, and they are indeed bangin'. It has been years since I have grown out a pixie haircut and I remember little hair accessories helped immensely. And this time around is no different! I am loving the hair clip trend with bright colors! So much fun and are great accessories to coordinate with outfits. Yep. I said it.
I hope that everyone enjoys the sunny and warm days that we have coming soon! Be sure to enjoy them to their fullest and I will be back soon enough for another monthly favorites and a chatty recap! Have a lovely rest of your week!
Thanks for reading!!
