Beauty Favorites | November 2019
It has been a wee bit since I have done a beauty favorites post, and I have tried and collected some new and awesome products! And my beauty routine has changed a smidgen since my last one of these, too. So new routine means some new products.. and some that I have had for a bit that are now favorites!
Like I said in my last favorites post, I'm enjoying embracing my natural hair color and its texture. Naturally I have a loose wave that I like to enhance with styling tools and product. For the waves I use a Paul Mitchell mini flat iron, I have had that bad boy forever and it is absolutely fantastic. Not too big and not too little, just right like Goldilocks. Since it came out, Paul Mitchell's Invisiblewear Undone Texture Spray has been my holy grail hair product. I still really enjoy it, but with my hair being longer I'm liking a little less hold in the texture category. Which is why I'm loving this new texture spray! The Piecemaker from SGXNYC is seriously amazing. It has this coconut scent that reminds me of something from when I was a kid.. Haven't placed it yet. It gives enough hold and texture without it being overwhelming or feeling like I have product in my hair. Its sidekick from the same line I'm also loving? Their Clean State dry shampoo. Also works great to add a bit more texture to freshly washed hair.
Both of these next products I wasn't really a fan of at first, but after playing around with them.. I can't imagine my daily routine without them. CoverGirl's Lash Blast mascara primer and Jaclyn Hill x Morphe's Dark Magic palette. After the first week of trying these products, I didn't like them. At all. Seeing as I spent the money on them, I wanted to play around to see if I could find a way to use them. Did I ever! I found with the lash primer it works SO much better if you apply it and let it sit and get a little tacky before applying mascara. Now since I've done this it makes my lashes way more voluminous and lengthy while feeling like I have nothing on my eyes. And honey, you best believe there is A LOT of mascara on there.
The Dark Magic palette I brought with me to California two Septembers ago and was a little disappointed. The olive green shade 'Potion' that I had purchased the palette for wasn't giving me the color pay-off I had been hoping for and was having fallout. Needless to say, I put it in my drawer and left it alone for a while. Recently I started playing with it again, but with different brushes and different application techniques. Let me tell you, a world of difference. I have been using it for the past few months, virtually everyday and can't imagine not using it.
Over the past month my skin has been a hot mess. So many breakouts. Since my senior year of high school, my skin has been relatively decent (thanks to medication). But apparently that went flying out the window. My already diligent skin care routine has gotten even more precise to try to stay on top of it. One of my absolute favorite products to help with problematic skin is Clinique's Blackhead Solutions 7 day cleanse and scrub. I use this as a face wash or a mask a few times a week, but my favorite way? A spot treatment at night. It's seriously the best and has helped combat the fun party on my face. $24 is a steal considering the size, especially since it's mainly a spot treatment for my skin! Sensitive enough, while also targeting those areas.
Last, but by no means least is my latest scent love! This one is brand new from Bath and Body Works, and I'm a huge fan. Into the Night: a timeless, feminine, alluring blend of dark berries, midnight jasmine and rich amber. It's really deep and sultry, something I love for Fall and Winter. Plus, the bottle is stunning (sucker for good packaging) and the name always makes me think of Still of the Night by Whitesnake. All in all, a great scent!
I think that's it! Ta-ta for now.
