Color Crush | Red
Red. Scarlet Red. The Scarlet Letter, Miss Scarlet, Phoebe Cates' bikini, Red the album and the Ferrari from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. So many different connections to the color red.
I have never gravitated towards the color. A few pieces here and there, of course. But to be consistently drawn towards it in my day to day life? Specifically fashion and beauty, that's brand new. Since July, bold and bright red items have been coming into my life. And I've got to tell ya, I'm really into it. I can tell I carry myself differently when I wear the bold cherry red shade than I do in other colors. Other people take notice of it, too. Whether they just see me carrying myself differently, or if they think it about the color itself.. Not quite sure, but it is definitely fascinating.
Color psychology, meaning and significance is something that will always interest me.
Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.
Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It has very high visibility, which is why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red. In heraldry, red is used to indicate courage. It is a color found in many national flags.
Red brings text and images to the foreground. Use it as an accent color to stimulate people to make quick decisions; it is a perfect color for 'Buy Now' or 'Click Here' buttons on Internet banners and websites. In advertising, red is often used to evoke erotic feelings (red lips, red nails, red-light districts, 'Lady in Red', etc). Red is widely used to indicate danger (high voltage signs, traffic lights). This color is also commonly associated with energy, so you can use it when promoting energy drinks, games, cars, items related to sports and high physical activity.
Maroon: a dark bluish red, it denotes controlled and more thoughtful action. It is slightly softer than burgundy and not as dramatic as true red.
Burgundy: a dark purplish red, it is more sophisticated and serious and less energetic than true red. It indicates controlled power, determined ambition and dignified action and is often favored by the wealthy.
Crimson: has a little blue in it. It indicates a determination to succeed but without upsetting anyone else. It emits sensuality rather than sexuality.
Scarlet: has a little orange mixed with it, giving it a richness and brightness. It indicates enthusiasm and a love of life. It is a little less intense and more fun-loving than true red, tempered with a degree of defiance.

Red also represents new beginnings which seems very apt, especially for 2020 being around the corner. I have no idea how long I will be loving the warm, vibrant shade for.. But until I'm over it, get ready to see lots of red smoky eyes, this dress and sweater a lot!
